| A plant will be constructed at the company's facilities in Panzhihua city, Sichuan province to produce titanium dioxide from titanomagnetite slag, which is a by-product of the company's steel manufacturing. Capacity will be 40,000 tons per year. The process is as follows: Slag with high titanium content is acidized with concentrated sulphric acid. The slag is then hydrolysed followed by salt treatment, roasting, grinding, surfacing, water flushing, drying and then powdering the resulting titanium dioxide. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The advantages of this process are: reduction in the consumption of sulphuric acid, low waste discharge (gas, water and solid waste), improved grade of TiO2 powder (rutile) and a larger variety of products. The production can satisfy the domestic shortage of this material and substitute for imports. It can partially meet the domestic demand for high level rutile-type TiO2 powder used for pigment. The project will improve the comprehensive usage level of titanium resources, control environment pollution and have significant economic benefits for the enterprise. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
