| This area has many natural and historical resources that warrant preservation and can also become very attractive tourist sites. A 30 ha. bird island has is the nesting groung for more than 100 thousand white egrets from April to August of each year. The area has a village in the naturally beautiful Mulan Valley with 52 buildings from the Ming dynasty period (about 400 years old). Along the Shesui Lake is a white sand beach which is natural fresh water bathing spot. On Mulan Mountain old Tao and Buddhist temples attract large numbers of worshippers. This zone is located 62 km from Wuhan, with a population of 7 million. This project can serve to attract tourist to cental China that now lack adequate tourist sites. In recent years some developers have started projects which are poorly planned. During the symposium on Ecotourism Development in Wuhan in 1996, the participants found this to be the best of among 20 ecotourism locations around Wuhan and asked for a good master plan. The German government has expressed interest in financing a Master Plan for this area. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
