Title Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Development in Panzhuang, Shanxi Province
Type New
Description
On the basis of 3 existing test wells, another 3 pilot wells will be drilled to complete the prefeasibilty study report for the comprehensive development project. The gas-tapping experiment and feasibility report on developing CBM in the Panzhuang area will be completed in 1997. On the base of the study to be completed within this project, it is intended that 20 production wells will be built by the end of 1998 to develop CBM, producing 70,000 m*m*m /day. In addition, a CBM liquefying plant with annual production of 4000 tons would also be constructed by the end of 1988.
Rationale
Development of CBM will solve some of the safety problems and reduce infrastructure investment in coal mines. With the development of this cleaner energy, air pollution can be reduced while stimulating further economic growth in Shanxi province.
Outputs
Feasibility study for CBM development in Shanxi province, expected to lead to production of 70,000 m*m*m /day CBM and establishment of a CBM Liquefying Plant
