CEMC has a vast human resources base and provides an all-dimensional range of services which include market research, project analysis, assets appraisal, information and public relations and economic monitoring. It has considerable expertise and resources in the public relations sector.
High reputation: Thanks to the efficiency and quality of its service, CEMC has won widespread trust and attracted much attention from commerce and industry domestically and internationally. Its high reputation is primarily attributed to its major contribution in monitoring the Chinese economy. CEMC business cycle indexes and articles are regularly published in the Economic Daily on the 8th, 18th and 28th days of every month and have become essential reading in China's elite and political circles.
Relations with the Government: CEMC has made great efforts to serve the government and official bodies. The State Statistical Bureau, the Ministry of Internal Trade, the State Commission for Restructuring the Economy, the State Economic and Trade Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the People's Bank of China and the State Administration of State-Owned Assets have all given tremendous support to the organization. CEMC has also established good co-operative relations with a number of local governments.
Relations with the Financial Sector: CEMC has persistently provided consulting services for groups in the decision-making process of the financial sector. The PECC Chinese Committee for Financial Markets Development (CCFMD), in which CEMC serves as the secretariat, has helped develop close ties between CEMC and the financial circle. So far, CCFMD has established links with officials from China's four major specialized banks and three policy-related banks.
Relations with the Business Circle: CEMC has participated in the establishment of the PECC Chinese Committee of Industry and Commerce. Its Special Research Fellows Program has brought together the directors of some 300 large and medium-sized enterprises. CEMC has expanded the scope of co-operation with these enterprises through company and organizational profiles, business investigations and searches and marketing analysis.
Co-operative relations with the Media: In addition to the Economic Daily, China Business Times and the Central Television Station have also shown considerable interest in the activities of CEMC along with other national media outlets. In fact, a Reporters' Club has emerged around CEMC.
Overseas Contacts: So far, 20 groups of overseas guests have visited CEMC and signed co-operation agreements with it. As a research-oriented institution, it is easy for CEMC to establish relations with more overseas research institutes, especially those involved in business cycle research, information release bodies, news media, various funding groups and international organizations. The consulting and intermediary bodies under CEMC also have their own channels for overseas contacts.
Information Resources: The China Macro-Economic Database and the database for company searches and investigations are special features of CEMC. It has well-established information exchange relations with the State Statistical Bureau, the Investigation and Statistical Department of the People's Bank of China, the Commercial Information Center of the Ministry of Internal Trade and the Planning Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and has set up close ties with CIESIN(Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network) and PacMerchant of the United States and the Japan Center of Economic Research.
